The image on the right is a speculative layout of newly subdivided parcels in the year 2015 based on the growth rates indicated by the septic permit data from 1969-1999. Current trends may yield as many as 1700 additional homes within the study area by 2015. The location of the subdivisions is relatively random, based on the unpredictability of land use change and the lack of any legally binding development restrictions or planning. The random pattern of sprawl and growth rate are confirmed by the Land Use/Land Cover Prediction System as illustrated later in this document.
