Healthy Waters

Our goal is to protect, preserve, and restore the Yellowstone River and its watershed for fish and wildlife, water quality, and recreation.

Highlighted by the quintessential Western river, the Yellowstone, PCEC believes that stewardship of the water resources of Park County is a top priority. Clean healthy water for people and wildlife is essential for living - not to mention a big factor in drawing people and employment to the area and boosting the local economy.

We are working to…

  • Protect Emigrant Creek and Sixmile Creek from proposed mineral exploration in the Emigrant Gulch area.
  • Achieve special designation of the Yellowstone River to insure its protection.
  • Reduce impact of structures along the Yellowstone River.
  • Educate land owners and visitors about the unique qualities of the river, and problems associated with streamside development and structures.
