Did you hear the news? The Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act will take an important step forward this week and our community will be one step closer to permanently protecting the Yellowstone’s gateway from industrial gold mining.
Colin Davis, owner of Chico Hot Springs and founding member of the Yellowstone Gateway Business Coalition, has accepted an invitation by Congressman Greg Gianforte to testify at a U.S. House hearing for the Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act (H.R. 4644) this week, on June 21st at 2:00pm EST. The announcement follows a verbal commitment by Senator Daines to advance the Senate version (S. 941) out of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee later this summer.
This is great news. “It looks like the Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act will have a productive summer thanks to the hard work of our entire delegation,” said Colin Davis.
You can view the hearing live HERE, or join us at the PCEC office (215 E. Lewis, #306) to watch the hearing at 12:00pm, this Thursday. And join us and let your elected representatives know that you support swift passage of the Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act!
The Senate and House versions of the Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act are identical and would permanently withdraw federal mineral rights on 30,000 acres of public land in the Custer Gallatin National Forest adjacent to the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness and Yellowstone National Park, and eliminate the ability for proposed gold mines to expand onto unclaimed public lands. The legislation does not impact private property and does not impact other public uses on public lands.
Thanks for all you do for our community.
